Resumo: This research seeks to understand the importance and meaning of the insertion of the social worker in the academic formation in Social Work seeking to glimpse the perception that the social worker supervising in the field has about his pedagogical action as a professional competence and attribution. In the same way, it seeks to bring to light a new social actor possible in the internship process in Social Work: an articulating agent of the triad, who, in addition to field supervision and teaching, propose the articulation between the different subjects involved in the internship process in order to align training with the demands of public policies and the user population, as well as guaranteeing quality training. The theme was chosen in view of the author's role as a serving social worker at a Public University, linked to a Department of Education in Social Work. Thus, it is intended to contribute to the socialization of work experience, as well as to give visibility to the performance of non-teaching social workers in academic training, through the supervision of internships. In this sense, the research is guided by the following research problem: How has the role of the social worker been constituted with regard to its involvement with academic training, through the process of supervising internships in Social Work? Thus, it aims to problematize the professional duties and competences of the social worker, internship supervisor, within the scope of academic training in Social Work with the aim of guaranteeing a public quality education that is socially referenced. It was possible to conclude from the research, that common and divergent points permeate the work of the social worker in different public policies. The divergent points are concentrated, mainly, in the structural differences of each policy, its demands and corresponding organizations that give rise to challenges and potentialities perceived during the internship process. As convergent points there is the positive impact of the intern in the field, providing opportunities for reflection and improvement of the work performed by the supervising social worker. Different professionals also agree on the importance of continuing education as a strategy to resist the naturalization of social inequality. It was also possible to conclude from the study that the field of work in Undergraduate Courses in Social Work is a new and fruitful work space, in which it is possible to intervene during the entire academic training process, thus focusing on the direction of profession. In the studied experience, the pedagogical managers affirm that this professional has become essential in the process of management of the internships, contributing in the formation of quality defended by the professional category.
