Resumo: Introduction: The Primary Health Care is considered the care coordinator and the entrance door to the health system. And the Health Care Systems revealed themselves as a strategy to strengthen the action of different services of technological densities and which, when integrated, aim to ensure the availability of services to users. Objective: To Assess the Primary Health Care capacity in order to coordinate Health Care Systems in the municipality of Santa Maria, state Rio Grande do Sul. Methods: This study is part of the multicenter project “REDESUL-RS: Evaluation of the Health Care Systems in the State of Rio Grande do Sul”. This is an analytical cross-sectional study, developed in the Primary Care Health Units in the city of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The sample consisted of 84 healthcare professionals, selected through convenience sampling. Data collection took place through The Assessment of the Coordination of Integrated Health Service Delivery Networks by Primary Health Care Instrument (COPAS), applied from June 2022 to October 2022. Results: It was identified that the stage of development of Primary Care in coordinating the Health Care Networks in the municipality of Santa Maria is classified as "Good Condition", the dimension "Population" obtained a score of 62.04%, "Primary Health Care ” with 63.09%, “Support system” 64.34%, “Logistics systems” 62.77% and “Governance systems” with a score of 61.96%. Conclusion: The stage of development of Primary Care to coordinate Health Care Networks was classified as “Good Condition” by health professionals. It is necessary to qualify Primary Health Care in order to overcome the fragmentation of the services available through their integration, also providing a qualification of care, the optimization of available resources and the resolution of the weaknesses of the territory.
