Resumo: This work falls within the scope of discussions on gender violence having as focus men convicted of sexual abuse against children in Santa Maria. It aims to identify how gender relations produce and reproduce in (and by) authors of violence, besides analyzing how these men understand and take a position towards gender violence. The purpose of this research is related to the need of shedding lights from another perspective on violence practiced by men convicted of sexual violence.In other words, to understand this form of violence from the perspective of men perpetrators of sexual abuse. therefore,, think beyond the accountability of man, but to question how to construct the gender relations of male perpetrators of sexual abuse. Thus, it aims to obtain data on social factor present in the speech of the participants as well as on the relations among gender and violence. Therefore, this research is an exploratory qualitative study with data collecting consisting of semi-structured interviews with inmates in jail due to crimes against sexual freedom. It highlights that the interviews are recorded and then transcribed. In data collecting, record of legal cases of the participants was also used in order to obtain information about the crime. The sample is composed by men between 28 and 59 years old, convicted of sexual abuse against children, deprived of liberty in a prison in the city of Santa Maria, interior of Rio Grande do Sul and four companions of men perpetrators of sexual abuse against children. The results indicate that the majority of cases were intrafamilial sexual abuse was committed by white men and adults against children aged between 6 and 11 years. The men who have committed sexual abuse against girls in Santa Maria are victimized by patriarchal perspective of gender. At the same time they were socialized to be "male", is socially and legally responsible for exceeding the "norm." Thus, they developed their behavior based on familiar patterns. The relations of men perpetrators of violent sexual abuse of children surveyed in Santa Maria are constructed from gender inequalities, which are socially learned and maintained for generations by both men and women.
