Resumo: The ostomy can be characterized as chronic health conditions with a significant level of involvement of the Brazilian population. In faced with chronic illness the people need continuous care which are provided often at home by the family. To develop this care the family seeks to strengthen its social network. It is understood by social network as all relationships between individuals that may change according to the experiences and learning. In this sense, it is relevant to address the issue of the social network of families of people with ostomies because to identify the members of this network and happened weaving to form relationships will can help in the planning of health actions with emphasis on social networks. Given the considerations it is visualized the need of the nursing to identify and enter your social networks in their care practice. The general objective of the research was to understand the weaving social network of family in care for people with ostomy. The specific objectives: to know the social network in family of person with ostomy; to describe the functions that social network plays with the family in care for people with ostomy; to know the influence of professional attention to the family in care for people with ostomy. This is a field research, qualitative, exploratory and descriptive, realized with seven families of people with ostomies totaling 16 interviewed at home in the period of 2013January to April. The data collection was realized through semi-structured interviews, construction of the Map Minimum of Relations and simple observation with record in field daily. The data were worked by thematic content analysis. The study followed the ethical principles of Resolution 196/96 and was approved by the Research Ethics Committee with Appreciation Certificate Presentation for Ethics number 11245612.0.0000.5346 and opinion number 171.345. The results are presented in the format of scientific paper: Article 1: "Always helping in one thing or another": family social network of people with ostomy; Article 2: Contributions of the social network of the family to care for people with ostomy; Article 3: "One of the few things that works well": professional attention to the families of people with ostomy. It was found that the social network of these families has a different spin on the situations experienced. The nodes that form this network are steadfast and active, but there were slack and inactive. Depending on the type of social function realized by interpersonal exchange between network members, families created bonds of different intensity. It is for the nursing recognize the social networks in health care of people, because will can stimulate the maintenance of strong ties and the creation of strengthening of the fragile, allowing the approach with families for construction of care with the help of social networks.
