Resumo: The labor market has undergone historical changes through the years. With technological advances and globalization, the labor market requires dynamic individuals with the capacity to meet this new demand that is based on human capital theory. This study aimed to describe and analyze the perception of the agents, the possibilities of graduates of the Federal University of Sergipe - UFS being absorbed by the services sector in the state. To allow this description and analysis to be effectively carried out it was necessary to evaluate both the planning of vacancies offered by UFS, considering the dynamics of the service sector in the public and private fields, and examine how academic managers evaluate the relationship between the Federal University of Sergipe, business and government regarding the occupation of jobs in the state of Sergipe. Nevertheless it was necessary to discuss the attributes and profile of the graduated professional that the market was demanding from the perspective of business agents, as well as how government officials evaluate their relationship with UFS and with the companies regarding the absorption of graduates by sector service economy. Supported by a case study with qualitative and quantitative approach we evaluated the necessary elements so that these professionals can not only be placed on the market but also to remain in it, given the perception of managers of academic, business and public areas. It was found that the UFS is not working with the market but with the community and it makes available options that the market may need. The state should intervene more in the labor market of Sergipe requiring from UFS a systemic and multidisciplinary training, as the qualification will meet not only the needs of the labor market, but will work to form a graduated beyond the problem-solver, which means an agent of transformation embedded within a larger context of responsibility and development.
