Resumo: Waste tires that, when in contact with the environment inappropriately, generate an environmental liability, when thrown in the open or clustered in stocks, but also become great allies if they are recycled and reused in a sustainable manner. This project aimed to identify sustainable alternatives for the reuse of waste tires in the city of Itabaiana / Se, with an emphasis on its life cycle and reverse post consumption channels. The research also addresses the level of economic and social improvement for the population, presenting the potential sustainable ways of recycling tires to be used in the city, based on the current guidelines and laws directed to solid waste, resulting in the construction of an ecopoint. , the adequacy of the municipality's asphalt plant for the incorporation of tire polymers in the manufacture of rubber asphalt, as well as the valorization of these residues in the ecological art of ecodesign. Its methodology was based on documentary bibliography and with authors related to the theme, as well as from the field, carried out through surveys in primary and secondary sources, using reliable databases such as books, scientific articles and state and municipal environmental agencies, enabling a qualitative and quantitative overview, with a dimension of how the tire life cycle works in the city of Itabaiana-SE. The participant observation technique served as the technical basis described in reports, images and personal contact with the agents involved, thus enabling the analysis and interpretation of data, which allowed us to understand the nuances of waste tires, their impact on the environment and the its potentialities within a sustainable perspective adequate to the reality of the city, evidencing the hypothesis directed to the research, that the waste tires discarded in the city, requires the use of the post-consumption reverse logistics process, thus validating a model that can be applied in Itabaiana-SE, also contributing to the formulation and adjustment of social and public policies.
