Resumo: |
The importance of observing the physical space of a library does not apply only to architectural and comfort issues, but also to important guidelines in Librarianship. Considering the characteristics relevant to this type of information unit, this dissertation has the research problem of answering how the spaces of the libraries of the Instituto Federal de Sergipe are presented in the context of adapting layouts that favor accessibility, considering in these spaces also the infrastructure and assistive technologies. The research had the question: What are the current conditions of the libraries of the Federal Institute of Sergipe in relation to accessibility and Assistive Technologies? The general objective of the study was to prepare a diagnosis, based on the current recommendations of ABNT (2020, 2019) and the guidelines of the GT Access of the Brazilian Federation of Associations of Librarians, Information Scientists and Institutions (FEBAB), which presents the infrastructure and layout scenario. of the IFS libraries in order to map their physical environments and gaps in relation to accessibility, presenting the results through an ―Information Guide for the adequacy of the libraries of the Federal Institute of Sergipe to accessibility. Its specific objectives were: a) To map the situation of each of the IFS libraries in terms of the physical structure of their spaces, collections, technologies and services; b) Present the informative guide with the information collected to the directors of the IFS for possible restructuring of the physical spaces of the libraries, based on the diagnosis carried out and c) Identify possible gaps in terms of accessibility found in these information units. As a methodology, the study is of an applied nature and has a quali-quantitative approach. As for the objectives, they are characterized as descriptive and exploratory. Its procedures were the bibliographic and documentary research and the case study in the libraries of the Instituto Federal de Sergipe. As a result, the current conditions of the IFS libraries in relation to accessibility are at the mercy of a minimum possible service, and therefore, the management must intervene so that better conditions can be offered and that Assistive Technologies are implemented in all libraries. The product ―Informative Guide for adapting the libraries of the Federal Institute of Sergipe to accessibility‖ contains a structural design to address accessibility issues related to infrastructure, layout, technologies and services in libraries. It is concluded that the elaboration of the informative guide, product of this dissertation, can be appropriated by the Institution to identify, in a didactic and pragmatic way, the existing gaps in the libraries; therefore, its use can allow to re-signify spaces, informational resources and the service to the user itself. |
