Resumo: The present research has the purpose of analyzing the reality of the work of the school official of the state network of Sergipe and how this materiality interferes in his condition of educator. We support the hypothesis that the school official is inserted in a reality of precariousness of the work that denies his condition of educator. Methodologically, we opted for historical-dialectical materialism, since it enables the theoretical reconstruction of the real movement of school officials throughout history, seizing concrete reality as much as possible through the categories of totality and contradiction, as well as opening space for proposing alternatives. Legislation, scientific articles, lawsuits, news, union documents and interviews with education professionals were used in the workplace. Through the analysis we identify, on the one hand, that it is in fact in the materiality of the work that we can find the basis of the educator status of the school official, and, on the other hand, that the current context of intensifying the precariousness of work, as one of the Determinations of the deep crisis through which the capitalist socio-metabolic dynamics passes, imposes a denial of the condition of educator of the school official in Sergipe. So we conclude that a picture of the commercialization and alienation of the school official of his condition of educator is deepened, and that only the confrontation with the precariousness of the work, in a structural way, through the collective struggle of the workers, can change this reality.
