Resumo: |
Media products are spaces for the construction and reproduction of standards that have a particular impact on the experiences and women bodies. Investigating the women’s representation in these spaces, concentrating on social columns, is the objective of this study, which focuses on the case of Thaïs Bezerra column. This weekly publication has been part of the Jornal da Cidade (based in Aracaju, Sergipe) since 1981, and remains active until the present day. The main objective of the research is to identify, describe and discuss the representation models of women developed by the Thaïs Bezerra column over four decades. The covers of 140 editions of the column are analyzed, divided into four axes, between 1980 and 2018. The methodological support defined for the research combines techniques and concepts from Content Analysis and an in-depth interview with the author of the column, Thaís Bezerra. The theoretical framework includes contributions by Woodward (2014), Goffman (1985), Hall (2003, 2016), Butler (2003) and Cruz (2015), among other authors. The research is relevant given the need to advance on the analyses about the representations developed by the social columnism, especially related to groups in non-hegemonic social positions. |
