Resumo: In recent years the Japanese animation has shown a greater penetration in foreign markets, mainly because of streaming platforms, which emerge as new forces that strain the field. Given this context, this research assumes as a general aim to investigate the processes of cultural hybridism in the visual configuration of Japanese animated production in response to the tensions that occurred in their field from the subgenre of magical girls. Therefore, it is assumed that cultural and artistic productions are historical and that their construction is immersed in the dynamics of the field. As the central foundation of this work, there are the studies of Pierre Bourdieu and Néstor García Canclini and their considerations regarding the capacity for combination, reproduction and renewal of culture, as well as leveling, convergence and position disputes. As a corpus of analysis, the animation ―Little Witch Academia‖ and other animated productions that are part of the subgenre Mahou shoujo (magical girls) will be contemplated, from the socio-cultural, historical, political and economic contexts, in order to understand how the animation Japanese mixes national cultural elements with foreign elements, in their visual configuration both in the appearance of the characters and in the narrative worlds represented.
