Resumo: |
This paper presents research on environmental education in the context of school libraries, with the objective of analyzing school libraries and librarians as agents for the promotion of environmental education. To this end, it analyzes the performance of school librarians, considering its pedagogical function, for the construction of a society of sustainable practices besides understanding how the relationship between environmental education, school libraries and librarians can happen. In this sense, based on the methodologies of bibliographic and documentary research with a descriptive character, qualitative approach and content analysis, the study was developed as a case study with the Environmental Education and Sustainability Project of Amadeus School. The use of the two aforementioned methodological approaches allowed the understanding of the basic concepts of research, such as: environmental education, sustainable development, school libraries and librarians' professional protagonism; consequently, a digital information booklet containing actions to promote environmental education was created that can be developed within the context of the school library. According to the content analysis, there are two categories of activity development performed by PEAS that can be identified. It is concluded that environmental education is a matter of social responsibility and needs to be treated urgently, with concrete actions and political engagement. |
