This research proposes conceptual bases to support the objective of investigating whether the popular and local-regional journalism developed by Brasil de Fato produces specific forms of knowledge. First, we reinforce the debate of journalism as a form of knowledge, (based on Adelmo Genro Filho and Eduardo Meditsch) and include new perspectives, based on knowing, feeling and acting (from contributions by Paulo Freire, Muniz Sodré, Cremilda Medina and the authors mentioned above). Next, we present the operational singularities of the Brasil de Fato newspaper and the conceptual particularities of popular and local-regional journalism. The concepts were applied to the Content Analysis methodology in the regional editions of Pernambuco, Minas Gerais and Paraná (representing the macro-regions of the country where there is BdF). By weaving theory and practice, the research points to indications that popular and local-regional journalism tends to develop content: dialogic, which promotes knowledge; sensitive, which stimulates a feeling; and praxis, which foments an action.
