The main objective of the present investigation is to analyze the scientific, professional and social function of Public Archeology in Environmental Licensing through the Ethics, Management, Legislation, Education and Sustainable Development aspects, taking as example environmental licenses with archaeological relevance in Sergipe. This research will be anchored in the conceptual proposal of Public Archeology. For this study we used the methods of Bibliographic Analysis, Document Analysis and Content Analysis, to analyze the reports of preventive archeology registered at the Regional Superintendence of the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN) in Sergipe and also analyze interdisciplinary bibliographies on topics such as Archaeology , Environmental Licensing and Sustainable Development, among others that may assist in its development. With this, it was possible to present the concepts, techniques, example of Preventive Archeology and the main methods used in environmental impact assessment, such as Archaeological Diagnosis, Archaeological Prospecting, Archaeological Monitoring, Archaeological Accompaniment, archaeological excavation technique as a means of Salvage / Rescue of Archaeological Sites and the Curation and Analysis of archaeological material. Finally, regarding the awareness and dissemination of cultural heritage assets, we serve Heritage Education. Throughout the research also showing that it is necessary to incorporate the preservation and / or conservation and safeguarding of cultural heritage within the framework of sustainable development policies with a view to promoting the quality of life and human well-being for present and future generations.
