Resumo: | This research had the purpose of investigating experimentally a comercial additive of lubricating oils which promises to reduce the friction coefficient by the surface polishment at the nanometric scale, due to the action of nanoparticles synthetized during the wear process. Tribological tests were conducted on a rotative tribometer at the fourball and pin-on-disc configurations, using two basic oils with different viscosities (27cSt and 107cSt at the temperature of 40ºC). The results of wear, friction coefficient and surface rugosity for the tests with and without additive were compared. Nanomaterials characterization techniques (SEM, EDS, Raman spectroscopy and AFM) were used in order to provide a deeper analysis of the surfaces after the tests. The effects of the additive over the tribological aspects depended on the tests conditions, and the best results (reduction of wear, friction coefficient and rugosity) were observed for the tests with the oil of higher viscosity (107 cSt). The nanomaterials characterization techniques provided more information about the surfaces tested, but they didn’t allow to find conclusive evidences of the deposition of nanoparticles synhtetized by the additive. |
