Resumo: | Land use and occupation directly influence the quantity and quantity and quality of water in water sources. The changes that occur in the watershed resulting from human actions cause an increase in the entry of phosphate and nitrogen nutrients into these bodies of water, which can accelerate the eutrophication process. The natural lagoon that gives its name to the municipality of Lagoa Nova, Rio Grande v do Norte State, Brazil, has been suffering for some years with problems arising from human actions in its surroundings. The increase in the entry of nutrients in the same, from the irregular release of domestic effluents led to the eutrophication of this ecosystem and consequent sporadic episodes of fish mortality. The lack of scientific knowledge about the environmental impacts that the occupation process causes on the soil, on the biodiversity of ecosystems and on the socioeconomic scope of the municipality is worrying. In this context, the present work has the objective of evaluating the impact of land use and occupation on the water quality of the natural lagoon and to present data that can contribute to the planning of actions that enable the recovery of this environment and provide an improvement in the quality of water. populations' lives. For this, a survey was carried out on the impact of land use and occupation on water quality and an assessment of its water quality, in order to propose sustainable alternatives for the recovery of this ecosystem. |
