Resumo: | The outcome of work is the UFPB Web Radio creation, with educational and scientific content, news service, as well as musical and entertainment content. This radio channel aims at promoting and cultivating the civic spirit, provision service to internal and external UFPB communities. In addition, it plays an educational role for Social Communication students to initiate their role as social mediators. To this end, this report also presents a discussion about participatory journalism and its several levels of participation proposed by Peruzzo (2004) and discussed by Paulino and Silva (2013). The programming is structured in the pillars of public journalism presented by Quadros (2005) and Rothberg (2011). The term educommunication, defined by Smith (2011), is also discussed in the theoretical background in the design of this intervention project. It was also necessary to use concepts about citizen journalism outlined by Pat (2002) and Targino (2009). Moreover, this report offers and overview of the key milestones in the history of radio (Ferrareto, 2001) mentioning the versions on the pioneering Brazilian broadcasting, discussed by Coelho (2014). Not to mention the journey from the transistorised radios (Mehl, 2016) to the birth of the internet illustrated by Buffarah Junior (2003) and Meditsch (2001). Henceforth, the following chapter presents the methodological strategies adopted for the construction of the academic activity here proposed. Even though this is not an actual action research, a scientific research method has been adopted, namely, the so-called participatory methodologies commonly adopted in intervention projects, with attention to the research action by Thiollent (2003) and Peruzzo (2010) and the participant observation, also problematized by Peruzzo (2010). Such resources allow for a greater participation of both Radio and TV students at the same time cater for an interaction between the author of the project and the aforementioned students of journalism at UFPB. This broadcasting proposal fills a gap in the University here in question, that hitherto, held no radio space for the dissemination of its scientific productions not always satisfactorily disclosed in the main Brazilian communication channels. Furthermore, this report presents the steps taken from the institutionalisation of the proposal, production processes and selection of volunteers, as well as to the paths taken to the structuring of the physical space. Web radio stations can serve as tools of provision service keeping the essential characteristics of conventional radio stations before them. |
