Resumo: Introduction: the Brazilian Health System has primary care as the first point of attention and main entrance system users for network health and the Family Health Strategy model healthcare reorganization of the country. To register the work that is done in the ESF is used the Information System of Primary Care which is a computer system of the Department of Health System designed to aggregate and process information about the visited population. Objectives: This study is guided by the goal of understanding, through the discourse of managers of health facilities, such as the use of the Information System Primary Care as a tool to support decision making in the financial management of the Family Health Strategy is. This study is the result of a field research, exploratory and descriptive study conducted with eighteen nurses of health services in the health districts of the city of João Pessoa - PB. After applying the guiding questionnaire was used for data analysis, the method of the Collective Subject Discourse. Results: were organized according to the following categorization: the Information System for Basic and utilization; decision making, data extracted from the Primary Care Information System; training to work with the Information System for Basic, collection and recording data in the Primary Care information System; operational difficulties, processing and analysis of information; computerizing data collection, making suggestions, team management and health decision making: an understanding. Conclusion: At the end of the study we found that the Information System of Primary Care has not yet reached the goal of being an instrument of reorganization of work practices, if necessary, the municipal management expand their investments in technology and continuing education of professionals working in family health strategy to stimulate the health information is used as a management tool for decision making in health.
