Resumo: This research aims to problematize the intellectual trajectory of Luís da Câmara Cascudo through his practices of memorialistic writing (1968-1972). The problematization of the sources occurs in dialogue with Cultural History, aiming to traverse the vestiges left by Câmara Cascudo as intellectual, the appropriations that made of its readings for the construction of its identity as literate. We aim to discuss the writing of his memoirs, considering the moment of the registers and their historicities, establishing the discussion around his academic formation and the reminiscences of a life dedicated to the teaching profession, as a historian and his insertion in the debate around popular culture From the experiences he builds in the backwoodspace of the intellectual duality that permeates such reflections and the silencing and recurrence that he uses as writing tactics in autobiographies. Such a study starts from the analysis of autobiographical sources O Tempo e Eu (1968), Gente viva (1970), Na ronda do tempo (1971) and Ontem (1972), that record their memories. We also used periodicals from Rio Grande do Norte to A República, Diário de Natal e Tribuna do Norte, as well as testimonials. In theoretical-methodological terms, the research is constituted from a discursive analysis considering the relation between history and memory from Halbwachs (1990) and the conceptualization around the collective memory, Catroga (2001/2015) from the reflections about the memory recall process and Orlandi (2011) grounding the interpretation of the silencings in the autobiographical writing of Câmara Cascudo. The study is historical and interdisciplinary, since it establishes a connection with areas such as Literature relating to a strand of history that enables the dialogue with other fields of knowledge as well as establishing an analysis of the relation with the past through the investigation of the memories, gaps and the silences of historical subjects.
