Dentro de ti ver o mar is a novel from Inês Pedrosa published in 2013 in Brazil by Alfaguara. This study aims to analyze Rosa, a successful fado singer and composer, strong feminine figure and the novel protagonist, that searches for her own identity while oscillates between the lack of affection in parental relationships and the seek for fulfillment of these absences in affective relationships. To embrace the complexity of this character, its feminine representation and the condition of the woman in relationships, and the ambivalences of her identities, this study reconciles the identity analytical categories — found in Hall (2015), Bauman (2005) and Giddens (2002) studies; memory — proposed by Candau (2016) and Ricouer (2007); analyzes the parental relationships in the light of Batinder (1985), Stein (1988) and Freud (1996); the feminine being, beginning with Beauvoir (1970) and Perrot (2007), besides approaching the feminine dialectical perspective in Inês Pedrosa — from the review of Adão (2013) and Oliveira (2008).
