Resumo: With this master's thesis, we aim to develop an analysis regarding the socio-spatial dynamics in the city of Crato/CE through the implementation of the campus Pimenta of the Regional University of Cariri (URCA), having as a time frame the period between 1986 and 2022. Therefore, we start from the understanding that, in addition to the impact on education, this university has played an important role in terms of the socioeconomic aspects of this city. As we consider it to be a complex topic, we chose to adhere to a dialectical scientific method as a way of facilitating the paths to be followed in the construction of this research. As for the methodological procedures, we adhere to bibliographic, documentary and empirical surveys. As this is the higher education unit with the largest number of courses and students in the city, we used the campus Pimenta as a spatial cutout for fieldwork. In particular, for this stage, we consider students, professors and administrative technicians who come from other municipalities and are living in Crato because of their studies or work in this teaching unit analysed, as well as the information obtained through entrepreneurs directly benefiting from the implementation of the campus in that location. Through this research, we identified that a portion of students, professors and administrative technicians linked to this institution migrated to the city of Crato and have frequented the commerce and services of the city. As a result, a new demand began to reverberate in local establishments. Thus, we identified that those most benefited are the entrepreneurs focused on the printing, mercantile and cafeteria sectors. In addition, we have observed the expansion in the network of enterprises in this municipality, the valorisation of urban land, the formation of an area of centrality, among others. aspects relevant to the studies of Geography. In this way, this research is conceived as an important opportunity to present part of the socio-spatial dynamics of Crato as aspects inherent to the presence of the campus Pimenta of URCA.
