Resumo: Introduction: The information anxiety among nursing undergraduates can be manifested by the search for constant information and updates. Objectives: To investigate how nursing undergraduates perceive in themselves information anxiety in the context of Information and Communication Technologies; To statistically evidence which factors are determinant for the occurrence of information anxiety; and, To analyze information anxiety, from the look of nursing undergraduates. Method: Exploratory and descriptive study of a quantitativequalitative approach developed at the Health Science Center – UFPB with 181 undergraduates nursing, structured questionnaire application and interview with 10 university students from the same sample. The quantitative data were obtained by descriptive statistics, tests of association between variables and adjustment of Logistic Regression model, and the qualitative data by Bardin Content Analysis. Approval in the Ethics and Research Committee, CAAE: 87242318.8.0000.5188. Results: The variables Volume of information, Classroom, Belief that the other understands everything, performance drop, Indisposition, Sleep disturbances and Headache provide evidence for the occurrence of information anxiety among Nursing undergraduates. The qualitative approach originated 5 categories: Filtering information, Connecting with the world, Accessing the social networks, Social networks invading the classroom, and Putting the cell phone in the silent or turning off. Conclusion: For the Nursing undergraduates, the information anxiety was confirmed by the logistic regression model and presented, through the following behaviors: concern for information reliability, loneliness, lack of self-control, self-regulation, need to connect with the virtual world, serendipity, compulsion and dependence on social networks, suffocation due to the volume of information, necessity to keep updated and search for information on the smartphone.
