Resumo: Much is said about being in favor of a good education, however, it is not always discussed what kind of education we are talking about. States, International Organizations, private companies and other actors have already used the idea of education as a solution to various problems, including generating development in its most diverse meanings. Among the debates on education concerning education and development, we can mention the ones that resulted in the 2030 Agenda, which includes the UN Sustainable Development Goals spread by the UN through many countries. In the state of Paraíba it was possible to identify the 2030 Agenda presence in some discourses, including about educational policies. We took, in this study, the case of Programa Escola Cidadã Integral which has shown some proximity to the 2030 Agenda and we delve into its analysis to understand how this relation happens and whether the conception of the role of education in this policy is compatible with that in 2030 Agenda. For as much as we verified that there is a big concern from both to generate an education that promotes the integral development of the human being, the ideas of environmental sustainability and of a critical comprehension of reality have little expression in them. These aspects may be a challenge for the Agenda to overcome in order to achieve its settled Goals for 2030.
