This work is the result of the completion of field research at the Center for Women's Reeducation Maria Julia Maranhão, a prison for the confinement of women offenders, located in the city of João Pessoa. This understanding of religious experience lived by prisoners and aims at analyzing the religious women's prison. During the research we found that religious groups take turns on Saturdays to allow them the word of God is preached even in confinement. Socio-anthropological character, the survey sought to observe and listen to the inmates about their attitudes toward religion, the likely behavioral changes attributed to faith in God and religion and their expectations of life after prison. In this context, we conduct that brings the text in its considerations to characterize the Brazilian penitentiary system and Paraíba, the situation of women prisoners and the possibilities of the prison offers rehabilitation, as well as reports of religious experiences of women who find themselves transformed by faith presented to them in prison.
