Resumo: The control of hypertension and the consequent success of the treatment depend on a series of individual factors that predispose subjects to illness and their adherence to the proposed therapy. The type of social support and satisfaction with Primary Health Care services, worked as evaluation tools, are related to and influence the success of the treatment of the person with hypertension. In this context, the main objective of this study was to construct a synthetic index to evaluate the perception about satisfaction with Primary Health Care and the social support perceived by the users of the hypertensive cohort of the city of João Pessoa. A global synthetic index was constructed based on a weighted average of the variables that made up the user satisfaction dimension, as well as the perceived social support with Primary Health Care. This index was applied in the 2016 hypertensive cohort for the municipality of João Pessoa-PB, since 2009, for the five health districts. The axes related to the satisfaction of hypertensive users negatively influenced the overall synthetic index while the axes related to social support had a relatively high score. Statistical tests showed that there was a significant difference at the 5% level in the global synthetic indices among health health districts. It was concluded that the index was presented as an instrument of practical, useful and effective use for the accomplishment of best practices among the territories and in the evaluation of the actions in Primary Care regarding the care to the hypertensive.
