The general objective of the study is to develop education and health actions in the school setting through the integration of teaching, research and extension activities. There is, still, as specific goals, to know the health conditions of school-age children to identify their needs and to develop educational actions / health care; conduct health education workshops with children, from the health conditions of the children and the needs identified with the school pedagogical team; and analyze the conceptions of a pedagogical team in relation to health education actions developed from the integration of teaching actions, research and extension. It is an exploratory descriptive study, action research type, of qualitative approach. This research took place at an elementary school, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Participated in the study, 115 students and 8 (eight) members of the school pedagogical team. The research involved the assessment of children's health conditions, in which data related to visual acuity were collected, oral health, body mass index and vaccination schedule. Students who presented alterations were referred to the Health Program Management at the School of the municipality, in order to provide the services provided in PSE. There were accomplished, still, press conferences with the school pedagogical team. The results of the study were presented through two scientific articles, being that the material from student data collection is covered in Article 1, entitled Health Education in the school setting: developing an action research in the municipality of Santa Maria – RS. Data regarding the collective interview with the pedagogical team are present in Article 2, entitled Conceptions of a pedagogical team about health education actions in the school environment. In short, the conducting of this study sought to develop the components of the School Health Program, ranging from the assessment, health education itself and teacher education. This cycle, oftentimes, is not fully realized due to the structural difficulties that countless Municipal Health Departments face. It is concluded, therefore, that strengthening this initiative, by partnering with the training institutions is a powerful instrument to ensure the programme's resoluteness. The results showed that health actions in the school scenario occurred in an integrated and resolutive manner. Integration with the pedagogical team allowed the design of strategies, building a relationship of trust with the team and the children and also a link with the municipal health department through the PSE. Nevertheless, There is a need for continuity of actions and identification of new demands so that the partnership with the municipal management is strengthened and the studied scenario can be contemplated with diversified coping strategies for the identified needs. |
