Resumo: This study is inserted in the research line Teaching and Learning, of the Graduate Program in Teaching of Sciences and Mathematics, of the Franciscan University, and addresses the Conservation Units as Common Good, with emphasis on the Natural Park Municipal dos Morros (PNMM) in Santa Maria, RS, Brazil. This park is inserted in the urban area of the city and plays a key role in the preservation of the biomes Atlantic Forest and Pampa, housing great biodiversity of fauna and flora. However, the challenges arising from human actions, disorderly population growth and lack of planning in the use of natural resources highlight the need for research to understand the relationships between community and conservation spaces, especially in relation to collective responsibility for what is considered a Common Good. The general objective of this research was to analyze the Social Representations of a school community, on the Natural Park of the Hills, with a view to the conservation of this territory as a Common Good. For this, we opted for a mixed research of exploratory descriptive character, conducted at EMEF Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro, located in the buffer zone of the PNMM. For the collection of data with students, teachers and parents/ guardians, the questionnaire was used, with open and closed questions, direct observation during meetings, and the logbook. For the analysis of results, we opted for the use of Statistical Analysis. The results of this research indicate the lack of knowledge about PNMM by the school community as a whole. The analysis showed that there is a knowledge gap of participants with lower level of schooling, this gap related to the lack of activities and dissemination of the Park in the school curriculum, associated with the ignorance of this space as a Common Good. Thus, data will be made available to schools located in the PNMM buffer zone, as well as to the public authorities, so that they can develop strategies for environmental awareness of the community about the PNMM, encouraging the commitment of considered a space promoter of education, teaching and understanding of the Common Good.
