Neologismos em libras – identificação e análise de sinais a partir de um canal do Youtube

The present dissertation aims to identify and analyze the occurrence of the linguistic phenomenon “Neologismo” in the Brazilian Language of Signs - Libras, specifically in a Youtube channel, entitled “Surdo Cult”, which deals with the cinematographic sphere and its circumscribed themes. In this research we show that, like the other natural languages, the phenomenon of neologism also occurs in Libras, especially because of the imminent need to attribute new signs to various spheres in which the deaf have gained space and representation. We select one of these spheres in which the record through video is possible to be accessed online, considering the visuospatial modality in which this language is realized. There are few researches related to neologism in Libras, which makes the discussion of this subject relevant, because, due to historical social factors, there were great periods of silence of sign languages. Nowadays, the recognition of Libras and the deaf subject have allowed wide access to several spaces, raising the need to create new lexical items signaled in several areas. For this work, we selected 34 signs found on the Youtube channel “Surdo Cult” and verified the registration of these new lexical items in dictionaries, as well as interviews with fluent signposts in Libras, in order to verify if these neologisms, although not would be part of the active and/or passive vocabulary of the research participants. The corpus was analyzed based on the adaptation of the model proposed by Marinho (2016), in which it was possible to describe the formational parameters of the new lexical items. From the identification, analysis and description of the signs, a classification of the Neologisms in the Libras was proposed, more specifically organized in categories of neologism formed by: derivation, composition, loans, semantic neologism and other processes. These categories were based on Correia and Almeida (2012) and Alves (2002). In addition to these authors, we are also based on the grammar studies of the process of sign formation in Libras, such as Faria-Nascimento (2009), Quadros and Karnopp (2004) and Ferreira (2010). We conclude, through this work, that there is a need for further studies in the area of creation of new lexical items, contributing and enriching the categories, and understanding in the formation of these new terms.
