The present work aims to analyze the criminal care of human trafficking. The phenomenon is not new, it has occurred all over the world since ancient civilizations, however, it violates the fundamental rights to freedom and dignity of its victims, due to issues related to social class, gender, and race. The United Nations Organization, concerned about the indifference of the countries regarding this matter and the perpetuation of human trafficking worldwide, issued the Additional Protocol to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and set up the guidelines of the States to prevent, suppress and punish those involved in human trafficking. However, criminal measures implemented in Brazil to face human trafficking reveal insufficient protection of the criminal legal asset.
