Resumo: |
The process of urbanization and production of urban space can also be a carrier of contradictions and a generator of conflicts between social subjects. The cities of Aquidauana and Anastácio make up the set of cities characterized by the Pantanal Sul Mato Grosso. The riverside population of these municipalities suffers consequences caused by floods over the years. In this sense, the objective of this work was to analyze the socio-environmental contradictions posed in flood areas and their reproduction in the delimited areas of the municipalities of Aquidauana - MS and Anastácio – MS. This is a study based on dialectical historical materialism, with qualitative and quantitative approaches. To achieve the objectives, on-site visits, application of forms and interviews with residents and municipal authorities were carried out, in addition to photographic records. 60 divided forms were applied, 30 in Aquidauana, in the Centro and Guanandy neighborhoods and 30 in Anastácio, in the Centro, Bomfim and Vila Santos Dumont neighborhoods, areas that are most affected by floods. The responses to the forms and their analyzes were processed, generating graphs and maps for better understanding. In this way, the data tabulation and theoretical contribution contributed to the understanding of the contradictions and transformations in these areas of study, allowing a deeper understanding of the historical development and how these areas are occupied by low-income populations, who do not have access to houses or land in regularized areas. It was concluded that the occupation of these areas by low-income populations or peripheral areas is a social problem that needs to be addressed through public policies that guarantee equal access to housing, infrastructure and public services for the entire population.
