This study explores the role of the Casa do Migrante in Corumbá-MS as a fundamental space for the reception, protection, and defense of the rights of children and adolescents in displacement. The general objective is to analyze how the Casa do Migrante serves as a space for reception, protection, and defense of rights for children and adolescents in displacement, with specific objectives to identify public policies and legislation for the care of migrant children and adolescents; systematize the Casa do Migrante's databases from the Corumbá/MS border related to children and adolescents, proposing an investigation with the collaborators, ensuring the anonymity of minors, and prioritizing the dissemination of quantitative information; and analyze national public policies for the reception and defense of the rights of displaced children and adolescents. The methodology employed is documentary analysis, focusing on the review of documents, records, and reports related to the Casa do Migrante to contextualize and delve into the issue of migration and youth rights. Additionally, a quantitative approach was adopted to collect additional data, ensuring the anonymity and non-identification of the minors involved. The results reveal how the Casa do Migrante has adapted its practices over the years to respond to migratory needs and protect children and adolescents in displacement. The reception approach is influenced by empathetic, person-centered treatment, which strengthens the capacity for self-actualization and personal growth of the young people received. Among the results, the action proposal "Happy Migrant Suitcase" stands out, an intervention aimed at providing books in multiple languages for the intellectual, linguistic, and emotional development of these young people, reflecting the institution's dedication to enriching the migrant experience and facilitating their adaptation. This work significantly contributes to the academic field, enriching the dialogue on migration and child protection and guiding the formulation of more effective and humanized public policies for the reception of children and adolescents in displacement situations. |
