Resumo: | One of the main challenges of logistics management is currently hiring and retaining high quality professionals. For this it is necessary to know what qualities to seek in professionals they already have and identify what skills are needed to be developed. This research sought to pinpoint which attributes reflect enhanced performance of logistics professionals in the Brazilian context, based on the concept of individual skills. It followed the model of skills and knowledge BLM (Business, Logistics, Management) as a basis of skills and knowledge to be evaluated as trainers skills of logistics professionals. Linked to the concept of individual skills and their evaluation, the concepts of experience and level of education were used. Data collection was done via survey with logistics professionals and data analysis was done via structural equation modeling. They were used as independent variables: experience, education, skills and knowledge in Business, Logistics and Management. The dependent variables are: Performance and professional Value. The results showed a positive relationship between education, skills and knowledge in management and logistics, performance and value of the professional organization. On the other hand, the relations between experience and skills and knowledge in business, performance and value not statistically valid according to the model. This study is important for companies, recruiters, professionals and educators and focuses the discussion on what kind of logistician is demanded by the market today, according to the parameters posed by BLM model. |
