Intercomplementação do sistema categorial de Ranganathan e do modelo entidade-relacionamento de Chen para a modelagem conceitual: uma aplicação no domínio do biomonitoramento do Projeto Manuelzão/UFMG nas águas da Bacia do Rio das Velhas

Resumo: | The research aims to show how the inter-complementarity between Ranganathans Categorical System and Peter Chens Entity Relationship Model in order to model a knowledge domain. Both researchers are, respectively, from the areas of Information Science and Computer Science. The methodology applied is characterized by a qualitative approach based on analytical-synthetic method of specific concepts in the domain. The sources for domains entities are papers published and forms that are used in the domain observed. Data were analyzed by content analysis and subject, after analysis data were structured and shaped according to principles and postulates of the categorical system of Ranganathans Categorical System and of Peter Chens Entity Relationship Model. The main results show that the Ranganathans Categorical System supports substantial Chens MER structure, inthe process of modeling a specific domain. So that the results indicate that there is rather a intercomplementarity between Ranganathans Categorical System and Peter Chens Entity Relationship Model to conceptually model a domain of knowledge. Furthermore, if the two models are used together, the modeling of a system will have a high level of quality. |
