Resumo: This master thesis comprises a scientometrics study of Brazilian Agriculture Company, regionally named Embrapa Pantanal publications - Documentos, Boletim de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento, Comunicado Técnico, Circular Técnica and Artigos de Divulgação na Mídia - produced and edited in the period 2007-2012. This study seeks to answer two fundamental questions: a) How is the conceptual universe formed from the mapping of entities/themes of technical publications of Embrapa Pantanal? b) How are characterized these publications? This research begins from three fundamental assumptions: a) A research institution is considered a subject area of study, reflecting on the knowledge published in documents produced by its researchers; b) A scientometric analysis implies the adoption of consolidated methodologies in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS), considering that it takes to operate with rigorous methodological parameters to obtain valid results; c) The scientometric practice, when it involves themes analysis, needs previously of a domain modeling task. It is based on theoretical contributions on knowledge modeling domains, scientometric indicators and studies, theory of faceted classification, theory of concepts and conceptual maps. It is grounded on a methodology of wider application, by having one of their goals to obtain inferences about research results, according to the Embrapa Pantanal technical production directions. The methodological procedures comprises four phases: survey of sources, collecting and organizing the empirical universe; descriptive analysis of bibliographic data; categorial modelling as proposed by Ranganathan; modelling and presentation of themes in conceptual maps. Mapped and quantified themes are presented through concept maps that consist of 20 major classes, with their respective facets and subfacets, corresponding to the total number of 630 themes that represent the diversity of the Embrapa Pantanal research objects. The relevant classes found are: Animals, Ecoregions, Plants, Geopolitics, Environment, Resources, Research Methodology, Production, Documents/Documentation and Hydric Basin. Results indicate themes privileged by the authors. The 199 articles were produced by 219 authors. The most productive authors and institutional collaborative authorships are highlighted. As outstanding contributions to the field of Library and Information Science, it has been highlighted knowledge modeling domains for quantification in metric studies of technic production and the faceted analysis as input for such modeling. Recommendations for editorial policy and research of the Embrapa Pantanal are presented
