The image of autobiographical crime in Photomaton & vox, by Portuguese poet Herberto Helder, calls for an approach involving a range of discourses, from literary theory to philosophy, including history and law. Through such an approach, this study aims to describe how it is that, within Helders work, an extremely singular poetic voice emerges, playing with features of the autobiographical genre. However, as deviating from the main theoretical frameworks traditionally concerning autobiography, the investigation pursues the connection between Giorgio Agambens philosophy and Helders literature, focusing specially on the role of the trace as a sign of negativity
