Resumo: This paper has the objective to do an investigation of psychiatric cases who receive the characterization of chronic. Interests us the questioning of the term, to understand possibilities for handling these cases. Among these management possibilities, we chose to focus our investigation on the methodology of the construction of the clinical case. Our hypothesis is the construction of a case may offer a new way of treatment of chronic cases. We seek, in the development of this text, a better understanding of the term "chronic patient" through studies that focus on how the term is used in the medical field, and later, in the field of psychiatry. We also consider valid the comprehension of chronic in the field of literature, what is fundamental to our working hypothesis: is it possible that the construction of the clinical case leads us to chronicity the psychiatric cases? In what way? So, if will be made a work of appropriation of the chronic expression, will be made as well, in our paper, a working of characterization of the methodology of the construction of the clinical case, to became possible the exploration of the limits and possibilities involving both perspectives. Through this process, it will be possible to be reached, in conclusion, considerations that allow us to hypothesize that chronic term, when appropriated by medicine, reveals itself as a strategy for silencing of what is more unique in a case. Becomes important to consider, in our reflexion, the contributions of literature and psychoanalysis, which allows a patient to be seen as a chronic through a new perspective, that legitimize the uniqueness of each case, not subject to a simple characterization and classification.
