Resumo: The present work is about the entrance and the experiences in the basic health care (ABS) of travestis residents of the Rio Branco neighborhood in the city of Belo Horizonte. The production of health care around this level of attention is presented through the relationship of community health agents (ACSs) and transvestites, highlighting the meetings inherent to the work of these health professionals in home visits to the latter. The general objective of this research is to understand the universality of travestis access to SUS from the ABS, cut through the encounters and expectations between the transvestites and the ACSs. The methodological tool used was a semi-structured interview, following a sc ript about the understanding of the relations with ABS services, access to health through this level of attention and the relationship between transvestites and resident / professional ACSs in the neighborhood. The survey had three transvestite interviewees and three resident ACSs from the Rio Branco neighborhood. The data were comprised of thematic categories through content analysis. The results of these meetings identified the difficulties and possibilities of access to ABS by transvestites, demonstrating that by placing the instruments inherent in their work as listening and receiving travestis, the ACSs strengthen ties capable of enabling entry into the Brazilian Unified Health System from the Basic Health Unit of the Rio Branco neighborhood. However, the overcoming of the centralized medical hegemonic model, guided by ABS, still needs to be overcome in the meetings brokered by the agents, since the registrations, although they are part of health work, and consultations still prevail as the core of these professionals responsible for intermediation of scientific and popular knowledge in the community. Travestis, when they are marginalized in different spheres of society, indicate that the performance of these professionals allows access to public health services, but it is still necessary to construct more effective strategies and the recognition of gender identity as one of the multiple processes of the Determinants and conditions of health conditions.
