Resumo: | This paper discusses computational tools (software) aimed at understanding built environments. The work follows this order: firstly, three case studies will be presented, related to the "3D visual platform with georeferenced database for complete infrastructure management" research project, conducted with the support of the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico CNPq (National Scientific and Technological Development Council). The case studies are historic sites modelled in 3D as a response to a request by the Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional IPHAN (National Historic and Artistic Heritage Institute) for the creation of electronic models of historic sites. The importance of this tool is that it represents the official demand for building custom software for managing urban environments, which needs to include graphical representation as one of its functions. Second item presented: software designed for the commercialization of a construction system of modular wall partitions. This item explores the architecture of the computer system that extracts the reference quantities for marketing, production and assembly for the aforementioned constructive system from the architectural design. Fulfilling the role of discussing and updating the technology presented in the first case study, the third one relates to automatic photogrammetry technology applied to the historic heritage field, which allows to scan physical objects or environments from photographs. The work finishes in the presentation of the prototype developed for the visualization of data related to the management of a shopping mall. This is a proposal for integrating a visualization module of environment related data to traditional systems in this segment. The gathering of this contents establishes a computational resources framework that will enable to enhance the way of understanding or observing built environments, supporting the hypothesis that this type of tool is a means of building systematic knowledge about the use of buildings and may therefore help to improve it. |
