Resumo: | This dissertation approaches the question of architectural representation and its limits, aiming to investigate the possibilities of using images to present architecture. It was pointed out what was called 'register' as a way to overcome the gap between bidimensional representation and the architecture completude. For such, it wasnecessary to proceed a comprehensive understanding of how architecture gives itself to experienciation, since the perspectival representation limits itself to the three spatial dimensions, lacking the dimensions related to time and behaviour. Such dimensionsare essential for the complete experience to space. It became evident through the dissertation that the architectural object is perceivedphenomenologicaly, in other words, the whole of architecture is fundamental for its experiencing. When we replace the object by its bidimensional image we change the process of perception, splitting the unity of the whole, since the object is pulled out of its cultural and physical context. We then argued that the traditional bidimensional image - photography and video - is an absolute image. Such image does not comprise the possibilities of relativization. It is a decontextualized image, which is no more than a fragment, no matter its duration. Before such image, the user become an observer, who only receive an image previously captured, i.e, filtered and framed by the gaze of someone who has already experienced it. The absolute image was identified as a possibility to re-present or inscribe something, not allowing a phenomenologycal experience. On the other hand, the relative imagewas identified as that one capable of showing it self from itself. Such image would not be an image captured by a camera, but a created image, which keeps its autonomy regarding reality and caracterizes itself as an event/happening. The relative image was pointed out as an alternative way of registering architecture, because it allows aphenomenologycal experience, because it is interactive, because it leads to the unveilment of 'truth' to the user. We concluded that the 'register' finds the possibility of its realisation with the replacement of the perspectival paradigm by the computational paradigm, i.e, withthe change of the mode of production of image, and the inclusion of time and behaviour dimensions. The interactive multimedia was, then, considered the most adequate technological environment to 'register' architecture, for it allows interactivity which transforms observer into user. |
