Resumo: | In the present work we analyzed discourses about the Estrada de Ferro (Railroad) Vitória a Minas passenger train, from texts published between 2005 and 2007 in the newspapers Hoje em dia, O Tempo, and Estado de Minas, all from Belo Horizonte (MG).The purpose of this research was to discover what was the EFVM passenger trains representation conveyed by the journalistic discourse. In this purpose, in the first chapter we told a little of this trains history, operated by the Vale. Still in chapter I, we present theDiscourse Analysis theoretical referential which has based our analysis, especially in the studies and reflections of Bakhtin/Voloshinov, Ducrot, Faria, Fiorin and Orlandi. In chapter II we perform the analysis, from the semantic pathways in the journalistic texts intradiscourse, emphasizing the themes and figures that are part of each pathway and stressing the linguistic strategies of ideological persuasion, from the lexical selection, theimplicit, the explicit and the silencing. The semantic pathways identified in intradiscourse were: the semantic pathway of the relationship between the traveler and the travels environment (PSE); the semantic pathway of the relationship between the traveler and the railroad (PSF); and the semantic pathway of therelationship of the traveler with other travelers (PSV).Secondly, based in the intradiscursive semantic pathways, we identified the intradiscursive relations. Afterwards, we established the representation of the EFVM passenger train in the Minas Gerais commercial press discourse. We made a comparisonbetween the discourses which regards the representation of the EFVM passenger train. Lastly, we answered the questions proposed in the beginning of this research (Introduction, 1.1) and concluded that the EFVM passenger train is represented as a safe, economic and inexpensive mean of transport, which pleases the passengers, in the three analyzed newspapers; and that the O Tempo newspaper, despite also representing the train predominantly this way, exposes problems of this mean of transport. We also concluded that the linguistic and ideological aspects about the passenger train influence in the construction of the readers collective memory positively, but silencing about the deactivation of the railroads that already existed in Brazil, and about the probablerevitalization of railways, especially in Minas Gerais. |
