Resumo: Biological methods for evaluation of toxicity from industrial effluents represent a important tools in the prevention, characterization and control of pollution that reaches aquatic ecosystems. The toxicity evaluation carried through the execution of diverse biological assays. The goal of this work was to integrate the existing information in a compact form as to provide new perspectives for the different toxicological methods. The main objective of this research was to carry out by survey of selection of usually performed biological methods of assay of the toxicological evaluation from industrial effluents. In special, it aimed the detection of used standardized tests for chronic assays. It searched the identification of test-organisms that could be more efficient in the detection of the toxicities of effluent at sub-lethal or chronic levels. Among these, has pointed out distinguished the assays, which deal with microcrustaceans Daphnia sp and Ceriodaphnia sp and the ones that use photoluminescence bacteria as Vibrio fischeri.
