Study on the violinist and composer Alceu Camargo (1907-2001), his musical career as a string teacher in the State of Espírito Santo and the author of a set of five pieces for cello. Includes a history of his musical life and his role in the historical development of string teaching in Espírito Santo, with emphasis on the development of the cello class in that state. Discusses the compositional aspects (form and style) in two of his works: Canção Melancólica (1984) for cello and piano, and Conversa Fiada (1999), for cello quartet. It also discusses idiomatic techniques (bow and fingering) and cello teaching aspects in this set of works. It includes editions of works from the manuscripts and data collected during the research.
