Resumo: This study has the aim of verifying the impact of the Program for the Social Inclusion of Former Inmates (Programa de Inclusão Social de Egressos do Sistema Prisional - PrEsp) on the reduction of the prisoner reentry of the former inmates serviced by the program in 2010.The PrEsp, along with other three programs (Fica Vivo, Mediação de Conflitos e CEAPA) is part of the State Policy for Criminality Prevention of the State of Minas Gerais (Política Estadual de Prevenção a Criminalidade do Estado de Minas Gerais), which goal is to servicepeople who were convicted and went through the prison system. Among the actions of PrEsp, we can highlight the psychosocial and legal support; referral to the social protection network; referral to professional courses and insertion on the job market. The study on prison reentrywas based on a sample made of 491 subjects who subscribed to PrEsp in Belo Horizonte, in the year of 2010, in parole. The data was obtained through secondary data of the program itself and through INFOPEN of the Ministry of Justice. For this analysis we used the method of quantitative survival analysis, which allowed us to check the ratio of prison reentry and its determining factors after the entry on the program. The obtained results demonstrated a rate of prison reentry of 23%, shown mostly between the younger former inmates and by those with criminal antecedents.
