Considering the technical and interpretative traits form the Album for the Young Piano from Robert Schumann, this study intends to be of use to the musical understanding of the study considered in full. In order to achieve this objective, topics like philosophy, historic references, structural organization, music writing and the comparative study between different edition of the music, as well as some recordings of the pieces have been taken into account. According to Schumann himself, this album has a didactic purpose, presenting graded important technical aspects of the piano technique with musical meaning according to the correspondent level of the student development. The purpose of this work is to emphasize the importance of the Album for the Young Piano from Robert Schumann for pianos students and to stimulate its use in piano teaching and learning, so, both for the teacher and the pupil.
