Resumo: | In this work, some operating conditions for the extraction of propolis in water and alcohol solution, and propolis in alcoholic solution, to maximize the use of raw propolis were studied. The propolis used was considered of excellent quality because low percentage of moisture (5.1%) and wax (4.2%) and a high concentration of flavonoids (3,500 mg/100g) were found, which will confered the rank of crude propolis Ultra Green. The propolis showed low moisture content (4.5%), but a high percentage of waxes (38.4 %), that is, although high, considered common for this type of propolis. The presence of formononetin in red propolis were identified and their concentration was estimated after for the extraction carried out in four alcohol concentrations (60, 70, 80, 90 °GL), the best result obtained (6.2 mg/g) for extraction performed at 80 °GL alcohol solution. On the other hand, the larger amount of total soluble solids (TSS) (69.8 g) was obtained for the extraction of propolis with the solution at 90 °GL, leading to an average dry matter percentage equal to 8.39% and one average extraction yield of 46.6%. The extraction of propolis in operating conditions used, the mass of crude propolis/mass of solvent that led to obtaining larger quantities of soluble solids relationships were 35% for the extraction solution in alcohol 90 °GL and 15 % for extraction in water, obtaining 80.64 g of total soluble solids (TSS) and dry matter percentage equal to 21.08%, for the extraction solution in alcohol 90 °GL, and 40.56 g of total soluble solids (TSS) and percent dry weight equal to 6.8% for extraction in water. It was observed also that the extraction conditions used in this work, with the two stage extraction in cross- current, there is a better use of raw propolis, since there was an increase in the mass of total soluble solids of 60% for green propolis alcoholic solution 54% in water for green propolis and 16% to 90 °GL alcohol solution for red propolis. |
