Resumo: | This research analyses the settings of contemporary paternities and the fatherhood identities in a private school in the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. The main objective is to comprehend and analyze the models of paternity made by men in the household cares of their children, as well as their parental movement related to the children’s school life. The main argument of the research refers to the fact that the traditional family structures show deep changes in social order throughout the last decades. These changes, historically recurrent to the feminist movement, resulted in a bigger participation of women in the job market and consequently to the rising of new modules of family arrangements, that challenge parents’ social parts while reconfiguring standards and duties, both related to domestic life as well as educational monitoring. Anchored in this argument, the research studies the representations of fathers and their social experiences in the making of paternity by the means of two theorical readings. The first, in the field of Education Sociology, with clippings in the studies of gender and this reference’s own concepts, as well as individual assets of scholastic paths and displays. The second reading is of part of the understanding of the concept of gender as useful of educational, historical and sociological analysis, as a result of productions in the field of Gender, Body and Sexuality Studies. As methodological procedures, the research makes use of quality techniques in the search for enhancement of the data produced by the means of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. |
