Resumo: | This research aims to analyze Claude Cahun's novel 'Aveux Non Avenus' (1930), whose paradoxical character can be noticed in its title: unfounded confessions. The novel consists of a multiplicity of genres that make up the textual part, such as dreamlike accounts, dramatized dialogues and aphorisms, having its theme as Claude Cahun herself. A visual part, made up of photocollages, complements the veil/unveil game of the artist. It is hypothesized that the textual and visual resources used by the author are a way of creating a continuously reinvented multiform subject. These resources were analyzed from her dialogue with two genres: the autobiography and the self-portrait. The biography of the author and her entry into the literary life are presented. Autobiographical theories are discussed in order to verify the peculiarities of 'Aveux Non Avenus' in relation to the genre. Photocollages and the way Claude Cahun made use of this procedure are discussed. The self-portrait as a space of no definition generated from elements associated to multi-forms is analyzed. The artist positions herself as an object of perplexity, in constant metamorphosis, and in this process of self-invention she brings about a continuous subversion of her own representation |
