This research work analyses 20 case studies founded in the literature and aims at gaining a better understanding about the real meaning of the term Knowledge Management to these firms in the cases. Another goals involve the understanding about how these organizations have been using information and knowledge towards reaching its organizational goals and improved competitiveness. It was also desirable to answer if Knowledge Management was the theory thatarose in order to fulfill the lack observed in the administration theories of the information era. It was also analyzed the performance indicators, best practices and a frame was created based on the model of information and knowledge use as proposed by CHOO (1998).
