Resumo: |
The energy transition process gained notoriety in several developed countries due to the problem caused by emissions resulting from the use of fossil fuels in the transport sector. Other leveraging factors in this process are the scarcity of resources and the volatility of the prices of petroleum-derived fuels. In this context, the electric vehicle segment and the electrification of the transport fleet is presented as a promising solution to this problem. However, the success of implementing a new technology depends on the characteristics of the environment in which it will be installed. In Brazil, the insertion of electric vehicles in the national market is advancing at a slow pace in relation to the main global electromobility markets due to the challenges involved in the process of adopting electric mobility in the country. This work addresses the main challenges linked to the insertion and dissemination of electric vehicles in the Brazilian energy sector and encourages discussion about the impact on economic viability for consumers caused by public policies and the regulatory role of the Brazilian State for the implementation of this technology, through of the analysis of the total cost of ownership (TCO), opportunities and barriers in light of the peculiarities and current context in the country, given the observation of the great difference between the participation of electric vehicles in the world market and in Brazil. |
