Resumo: The present work is an applied research that describes the construction of a sociological gender dictionary as a tool to combat violence against women, still persistent today, through information. The target audience for the product proposed in this study are women from São Luís do Maranhão and those who are most interested in obtaining and contributing to this fight through knowledge related to gender issues, feminism and gender violence. The practical elaboration of the dictionary, whose stages are described from the Design Thinking concepts, relies on three main methodological strategies for data collection: conducting a focus group with a local collective aligned with the theme, applying a questionnaire to the participants of this group and documentary research in clarifying materials about violence against women, with the main objective of selecting terms and expressions that will be part of the product as entries. The research also brings theoretical-historical critical discussions about the structuring process of patriarchy as a cultural system incorporated by society, in which there is a hierarchy between men and women. It is up to them to privilege and legitimize power, through sexist socialization that involves the domination and violence of women, in the most varied ways. In addition, feminist resistance against this panorama is highlighted, through historical waves that culminated in the current cyber activism, in which the role of online journalism is also inserted. In this sense, an approach to existing laws in Brazil that aim to combat the problem of violence against women and femicide will also be developed post- qualification.
