In the news portals of São Luís, there is little use of databases and visualizations to deal with Violence against Women, not taking away the incident report approach of the materials. In addition, technical difficulties are a barrier to the greater dissemination of digital tools for the production of local journalism. In this scenario, the present work is applied research that describes the development of a digital platform that provides data, information, and visualizations of Violence against Women, in the contexts of São Luís, Maranhão, and Brazil. The product, called Femini, is an instantiation according to Design Science's definition, that is, the most tangible level of an artifact, presenting the solution of problems in a more accessible way for users. The research deals with defining the platform's functionalities, considering the Data-Guided Journalism - JGD workflow, and considering its use by local journalists. For this, the stage of applying a survey with journalists from newsrooms in São Luís followed, collecting data on the number of cases of violence in the capital, and using digital tools to develop the visualizations and the platform. Still, discussions about the JGD, historical course, definitions, and work steps are raised, which include extraction/collection, analysis, and visualization steps followed in the development of the product itself. Discussions about being a woman and Violence against Women are presented, to understand what social role is attributed to the feminine, what is the construction of the role of submission in the man-woman relationship, the path of transformation of this relationship into violence, what are the characteristics, types and how Brazilian legislation understands the problem, in addition to presenting a brief overview of violence against women in Maranhão. In the research, it was noticed that the portals of São Luís have not made use of the tools made available by the JGD, contrary to the national scenario. |
